Taxes

Each tax season, Millburn Library provides copies of common tax forms & booklet instructions, like the NJ 1040, for patrons to take. Any additional state or federal tax forms you need you can have printed at the library, either yourself or with a staff member’s assistance. We also have yearly reference books that help with tax prep, such as income tax guides for the current and last few years.

Federal tax forms may also be available at the IRS Customer Service Center, which is about 2 miles from the MFPL in Springfield, NJ (955 So. Springfield Ave).

Please note that staff members can only help you print tax forms, we cannot assist in filling them out, or selecting which forms you should (or should not) fill out.

Tax Filing Assistance

Did you know you may qualify for free e-filing, from the government, dependent on your income? Individuals with an income of $73,000 and below qualify for various free federal tax filing services (with an IRS partner site), state tax filing services (free with some offers), and guided preparation— the online service does all the math. Click the button below to read more about the IRS Free File program.

In addition, qualified individuals may also receive assistance from the IRS‘s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program,  if they are: limited English-speaking taxpayers, persons with disabilities, or people who make $60,000 or less annually. The Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) program is available to those 60 years of age and older, and is especially able to help with questions concerning pensions and other retirement-related issues. Both VITA & TCE volunteers have passed training that meets IRS standards, and all returns receive a quality check.
