Grand Reopening

Join us back at 200 Glen Ave

We’re Back!

After operating out of a temporary site from October 2021 through April 2022, the Millburn Library moved back to 200 Glen Avenue for a soft opening on May 4, 2022. A grand opening and ribbon-cutting was held on Saturday, October 8th, 2022.  The library was open regular hours this day, with an open house from 9:30 a.m.  –  12:00 noon and a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:00 a.m.

If you ever can’t make it to Glen Avenue, the Digital Library is open 24/7. Use your Millburn Library card to stream TV & movies, read eBooks or comics, listen to audiobooks, learn a new language and more with one of our many digital resources.

If you have any questions, you can call (973) 376-1006, text us at (973) 998-4228, or email reference@millburn.bccls.org.

Circulation & Gallery

New flooring, lighting, and ceilings create a clean and sophisticated look from the moment you walk into the building.
The new circulation desk is ADA-compliant and scaled to meet your needs, allowing more floor space for displays, for walking across the lobby, and for mingling.
The William R. Swinson Art Gallery includes a professional art hanging system, adjustable lighting, and a beautiful, neutral wall covering, making an excellent space for art displays.

Children's Room

The Children’s Room of the Millburn Library received a total renovation from floor to ceiling. The theme of the new room is “Reading will take you anywhere you want to go.” The entrance is flanked by books with the word READ printed in 15 different languages.

All new furniture, a new layout, and improved lighting create a feeling of openness and welcome. One interior wall was moved, which increased the size of the Children’s Room by 20% without any changes to the exterior of the building. Vignettes on the wall compliment the theme “Reading will take you anywhere you want to go,” with iconic representations of various places around the world.

Teen Area

The Teen Area of the library was relocated from the front corner of the building to a newly-created, enclosed space under the mezzanine. Here, teens have a place to wind down and collaborate after school while the walls help prevent any excess noise from traveling through the building.

Main Room

The main room of the library received new carpet, paint, ceiling, and lighting. Furniture was rearranged to make better use of the space, with clean lines and open views for easy navigation. All services points— the Children’s Desk, the Circulation Desk, and the Information (Reference) Desk— are now lined up on a single axis, so no matter which desk you are at in the library, you can see all other service desks.

Soft seating with end tables, study carrels, and work tables provide many seating options to meet the task at hand. Outlets have been installed near all seating so charging your phone, tablet or laptop should be easy to do, no matter where you sit.

The Information Desk was moved from in front of the windows to the side of the room, opening up views of the South Mountain Reservation from all of the windows along the northern window wall.

Miscellany

Improvements were also made to the first-floor restrooms, including new tile flooring, all new fixtures, and new divider panels. An additional toilet was also installed in the women’s restroom, even while maintaining ADA compliance.
