All BCCLS libraries, including Millburn, now accept credit card payment for fees & fines, processed online through a secure, encrypted service called SmartPay. You can make your payments anywhere you have Internet access. (Note: click here for information on Millburn Library Fine-Free policies.)
If you have an overdue charge, lost item fee, or other charge on your card, you will see a “Pay Fines Now” button on your library account page after you log in through the online catalog.
If you have overdue item(s) that are still checked out, the fine cannot be paid online until the item(s) are returned or declared “lost”. Each library account is individual, even for members of the same family, and cannot be combined— if you have fines on multiple accounts, each account’s fines must be handled separately when paying.
For compliance reasons, no staff member in any BCCLS libraries are allowed to physically accept your credit card or enter your credit card number on your behalf. You must complete the payment transaction yourself through the secure SmartPay website. If you are already in the library, you may use one of the public computers to log into your account and make your own payment— payments cannot be made at any staff workstation, though staff can assist you at a public computer. Just ask!
The payment will appear on your credit card statement as “Bergen County Cooperative Library System”. This is the full name of BCCLS, the consortium in which Millburn Library is a member.
A 50-cent fee is added to each transaction. Transactions are non-reversible.
Millburn Library has an ATM in the lobby for your convenience.
