Get volunteer service hours for doing what you love: reading! Teens in grades 7 through 12 are welcome to submit reviews.
If you have any questions, email our Teen Librarian, Janis.
Rules:
- Reviews submitted for books 300 pages or more will be capped at 4 hours, and that will be the month’s total limit as well. (Meaning, if you write 2 reviews, the total hours earned will be no more than 4.)
- Read/listen to any book, audiobook, or graphic/manga. Feature-length movies count as well.
- Books read must be at or above your reading-level— preferably from the Library’s Middle Grade or Young Adult collections.
- Every 100 pages = 1 volunteer hour, + 1 hour for writing the review itself (max 4 hours per review— anything beyond 300 pages won’t count as more).
- For movies, the film run-time is rounded to the nearest half-hour, plus 1 hour for writing the review itself, to calculate the volunteer hours.
- Write a short review between 150-250 words. Note: this is not a summary, but a review. Give your opinion on the book! What kind of readers would be interested in the story? Remember to give some plot details, but avoid spoilers.
- Reviews must be written by you, in your own words, of your own opinions. If plagiarism or the use of assistive technology is detected, your review will not be accepted.
- Submit below.
