Voting Guide

The 2024 General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 5th.

  • Tues, Oct. 15: deadline to register to vote (online / in-person)
  • Sat, Oct. 26 – Sun Nov. 3: early voting period
  • Tues, Oct. 29: deadline for mail-in ballot (to apply by mail)
  • Mon, Nov. 4: deadline for in-person mail-in ballot applications for General Election
  • Tues, Nov. 5: General Election Day

Getting informed about pressing issues and getting out to vote is one of the best ways to ensure both you and your local community are represented in government at all levels— that you have a voice. The Library is here to ensure you’re properly registered and aware of all the options and dates of elections and, beyond that, you have easy, reliable access to trustworthy information on the issues and candidates to ensure a confident, informed vote.

Register to Vote

Every eligible voter has various ways to register to vote in local, primary & general elections.

If you aren’t sure if you are currently registered to vote in New Jersey, you can use the NJ Division of Election’s Voter Registration Check:

In a closed primary election, voters can only vote in the election for the party with which they are affiliated. Make sure you are enrolled with the political party you wish to vote for, and know you can change affiliation as do your personal beliefs (note: you may vote for any candidate in a general election):
